West Rowan got the start they wanted in their first conference game of the season. The Lady Falcons jumped out to an early 1 – 0 lead when Lejla Mehmedovic received a pass from her sister Selma and placed a hard shot over the hands of East’s keeper. Though West had an early lead, the next 30 minutes were played evenly with both teams having opportunities to take control of the game. West gained momentum as the half went on and extended their lead when Mackenna Clifton buried a shot in to the far corner from Lauren Corriher. At half the score was 2 – 0, but when the whistle blew to start the 2nd half West came out strong again when Clifton scored her second goal just 3 minutes off a Selma Mehmedovic pass. The scoring continued with goals in the 22nd minute (G: Selma. A: Lejla), 30th minute (G: Lejla), and 31st minute (G: Mackenna, A: Lejla). Though the score was lopsided, Ryley Corriher made key saves throughout the game to keep East off the board. Corriher finished with 8 saves and a shutout. West travels to defending NPC Champs South Iredell on Thursday.
