In their 3rd game in 3 days, the West Rowan Lady Falcons came in to their match with Central Davidson expecting a hard fought match. Central Davidson didn’t disappoint. West Rowan was forced to play a strong defensive game from the start as the Lady Spartans came in pressuring offensively, looking to get on the scoreboard early. Luckily West Rowan was up to the challenge with Seniors Bri Saelinger and Kacy Cole stepping up to keep the game even at 0-0. Freshman Jillian Brown and Sophomore Haley Foster also played strong defensive games for the Lady Falcons. The two teams entered half time scoreless, but that would change shortly after the start of the 2nd half. With 30 minutes remaining, West Rowan had an opportunity for a free kick from just outside the box. Senior Lejla Mehmedovic hit a well placed shot over both the wall and keeper to give West a 1-0 lead. Both teams exchanged chances for the remainder of the match until 2 defensive break downs allowed C.Davidson to bring the game even and then take the 2-1 lead. West Rowan wasn’t done fighting and with under 4 minutes left to play Selma Mehmedovic played a great ball to her sister Lejla who beat her defender and placed a low shot past the keeper to bring the game even at 2-2. Ryley Corriher played the game of her career making 14 saves in net for the Lady Falcons. West Rowan will travel to A.L. Brown on Monday (3/11) for another tough non-conference match.
